Hello! My name is Grace McIntire, and I teach Construction Management at Western Carolina University. I graduated with my Master of Construction Management Degree at WCU, and our graduate program was such a positive experience (and so transformative for me) that I was thrilled to return to teach there. Iām currently pursuing my Doctor of Education, with anticipated graduation in May 2028.
I have an extremely unique background, and I'm not your typical construction professional. I started dabbling in construction about 11 years ago. I fell in love with the process through renovating an old auto body shop into commercial offices...my passion soared from there. I've been working in the industry professionally for nearly 8 years. Prior to academia, I was a Project Manager for a small General Contracting firm in Asheville overseeing residential, commercial, and industrial renovations and builds. Beyond this industry, I have 24 years of experience in business operations and logistics, marketing, finance, graphic/web design, and print production.
I own a small farm just outside of Asheville (about an hour and half from campus). I raise mini goats, chickens, a mini donkey, and a mini horse. We breed and sell baby goats; and YES...it is exactly as magical as all of those adorable viral videos you see of baby goats.
My family and I moved here from Los Angeles about 7.5 years ago, so it was quite the transition from fast and busy city life to the countryside. We have two amazing and impressive children, and we all really love the peace and beauty that farm life in Western North Carolina entails.
